FAQs

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Why should I use an application consultant?

A consultant provides additional viewpoints about what types of essays work best for the students and their college choices.  I assist with brainstorming, editing, organization and other aspects of essay writing.  In addition to the essay, I provide advice about the timing of the applications and help students prioritize their college choices.  Students emerge from this process with self-confidence that will help them make a positive adjustment to college life.

What high schools are your students currently attending?

I work with students from public and private schools all around the Bay Area. Many of my students come from Los Gatos High School, Saratoga High School, Cupertino, St. Francis, Bellarmine, and Monta Vista. I also work with students who are applying to graduate schools (e.g., business, law, medical). Some of my students are from out of state and even out of the country.

What is your fee structure?

I charge $100 per session payable at the end of each session. Each session is generally one hour. This includes the time I need to read or edit essays that are in process. In some cases I am asked to “critique” or evaluate essays that have already been submitted or written. In these cases we agree to an appropriate hourly rate. If a student is unable to meet face-to-face but wants an essay reviewed, I will charge for my time as well. A 24-hour cancellation notice is required to avoid being charged for the session. Students usually pay by check at the end of each session.

Where do we meet or work?

I meet with students at my home office, at 16154 Rose Avenue, Monte Sereno. I also work with clients by phone and Skype. These remote students are generally living in other states or countries.
